Cynthia Carter, a Popeyes employee in Louisiana, is serenading customers with her singing skills. The Kenner, Louisiana, resident, who sings the menu when people arrive at the drive-thru, is going viral on Facebook as social media users share footage of her interaction with customers, according to the Miami Herald.

One video shows the 57-year-old singing cheerfully to a customer at the drive-thru while the man responds with his own vocal skills as he selects his items.

Carter has been singing to customers since 2005, a time where the region was trying to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. A customer came through the drive-thru at that time and sang to Carter, cheering up the woman who lost everything in the storm. The Popeyes employee responded to the person with her own singing voice, starting a trend that still continues to this day.

One person, who spoke to WGNO in 2017, said Carter sounds like Patti LaBelle.

The viral employee has also appeared in an episode of the reality TV show Undercover Boss in 2014. In that same year, she received a new Toyota RAV4 after being featured on NBC’s The Meredith Vieira Show.

“You have been inspiring so many people,” Jon Harris, a correspondent on the show, told the beloved woman as she was rewarded with an SUV. “Every day you’re singing and uplifting their spirits, and we wanted to do the same for you.”

The cheerful Carter drove away singing after receiving her gift.

“I’m gonna drive my new car, I’m gonna do that baby,” she sang.

Speaking with NOLA.com in March, Carter said she may retire soon after working at Popeyes for 30 years.
