What can we learn from women merging their super powers in spite of their differences? I don’t know about you, but I am so over the confusion conjured up over the smallest disagreements. Old news now, but I was uber inspired by Kim K and Amber Rose’s selfie showing solidarity —real or imagined — over frail masculinity of which sometimes men become victims.

Women joining together shows us the power of the feminine, the magnetism of the yoni, and the allure of a woman. As we witnessed with the example of Kim and Amber’s coming together, all love and forgiveness were restored from this side of the fence. This is the power of the feminine, the ability to start and stop wars.

It’s easy to get caught up in pseudo competition with other women over damn near anything, but especially when it comes to men. It tends to happen for several reasons, one being some women generally do not trust or champion other women. Even when a man is dead wrong, i.e. starts flirting with your best friend, the friend will become the enemy in a heartbeat.

We practice misogyny in quiet, holding grievances against other women a lot of times without holding our men fully accountable for their behavior and choices. But when wives and ex-girlfriends, baby mamas and side chicks form alliances, there is potential to brew power over human pathologies such as misogyny and cowardice. These alliances say, “I stand with my sister. I am her keeper“. It’s an affirmation of self-love as we only accept and love others as we do ourselves.

The media portrays women as small minded, petty, and dangerously emotional beings with the inability to use our emotions to navigate through our feelings. We’re shown attacking each other, always in competition. There is no competition against a woman who is genuinely confident, loving, and self-assured.

Millions of women watch from the sidelines as Love and Hip-Hop, The Real Housewives, Basketball Wives, etc. attempt to provide the blueprint for our behavior and fabulousness, all the while encouraging petty fights between women over everything from men to make up. We hardly see these shows portraying women as beings of substance with the capacity to come together and communicate in healthy ways that serve to sustain loving relationships. Reality television tends to choose the most seemingly emotionally unstable women they can find.

We hardly see examples of women uniting and creating powerful alliances, specifically within the context of ex-girlfriends/baby mamas and wives. These alliances have the ability to do all kinds of powerful things. There might also be opportunities to help the children become more confident with interactions between the adults in their lives. Kim K and Amber Rose’s solidarity reminded us of the power of sisterhood against sexual shaming of women. Alliances might influence men to relinquish petty beef in exchange for what’s important.

There is no power or benefit in word exchanges that only seek to diminish one another. We need men to show up as protectors for all women, never allowing himself or other men a pass for disrespectful behavior. We need men to also show up as lovers to all women, to love us as they love their sisters and cousins.

We can do more together than we can apart. Beyonce told us, “Girls run the world,” and the sooner we accept this as truth, the better off we will all be.
