To be perfectly honest, I’m not exactly sure if this is major
news or not, but this does prove one thing for sure: that The Steve
Harvey Show definitely must be very popular, with the show announcing that President Obama will sit down for an hour long, one-on-one
interview with Steve Harvey on the syndicated
TV talk show, this Friday Dec. 20th.
And you have to figure that the White House felt that it was an excellent PR move for the President,
no doubt because of the show’s consistently high ratings and Harvey’s popularity.
Of course one other major factor, and not
in any way criticizing Harvey, but obviously knowing that it would be a friendly interview and not a confrontational one, was no doubt very
appealing to the White House as well (I mean it’s not going to be Bill O’Reilly for sure).
Harvey said that he and the President talked “family, fatherhood and his plans for
the holidays,” and also, according to him, “sitting down with the President
is something I’ve always dreamt of doing, and I am honored to have the
opportunity.”
However you feel about Harvey, this is a major coup
for his program and proves that he has come a long way from being just your
run-of-the-mill stand up comedian.
He figured out a long time ago that the key to long lasting
success is to diversify into other ventures, such as writing best selling books
(which i- turn become hit b.o. comedies), being a morning radio show host, a talk
show host, and a TV game show host while still doing your comedy stuff here and
there whenever you can. Smart move.
