On the heels of my Bob Marley post beneath this one… Here’s a look at an upcoming new documentary titled Journey To Jah, directed by Germany-based directors Noel Dernesch and Moritz Springer, which follows popular 2 white European reggae musicians – German-born Gentleman and Italian Alborosie, who embraced Rastafari culture, reggae music, turning their backs on their native lands, and set off to Jamaica in search of an authentic identity and what they call a “spiritual homeland.”

The film has been in development for 6 years, as the pair of directors has had to raise funding in chunks to be able to continue production. They recently completed another round of financing, raising just over $60,000 via Kickstarter.

Screendaily notes that, thanks to that effort, the directors plan to return to Jamaica in in December through January, and then again in March and/or April 2012, to complete shooting, and hope to have the film ready at the end of 2012, for a Berlinale 2013 premiere.
