Recipient of the NYU Tisch School of the Arts fellowship, director John Ryan Johnson's upcoming feature documentary Dreams Don't Die follows Antoine Hood II, a US Air Force Captain, who works a desk job by day, and pursues his childhood dream of playing professional basketball in the NBA.
One problem is that Hood graduated from college 6 years ago (although he was an NBA prospect at the time), and is now the same age as many NBA veterans. However, none of that has been a deterrence to Antoine's pursuit of his dream.
Having recently signed with a well known sports agent, and in the best physical shape of his life, Antoine is primed to make yet another run at NBA summer leagues and training camps in search of what so many have told him simply isn't going to happen.
This film follows his journey.
The filmmakers successfully raised $25,000 to finish production on the project, which will continue through October, when NBA training camp starts up for the 2012-2013 season.
Dreams don't die indeed.
