Courtesy of Urban Daily: ““Monkey Gang: The Mockumentary” a hip-hop comedy that parodies negativity in Gangsta Rap and Hip Hop culture.

The mock-documentary is said to have premiered in a successful June screening, with comparisons being made to films we all know and love like Hollywood Shuffle, Fear Of A Black Hat and Bamboozled. Bold!

The film will screen a second time this Sunday, July 3rd, at 2pm, here in New York City, at the Anthology Film Archives.

Tickets are $20 at the door, or $10 in advance. For advance tickets contact email:

Watch the preview trailer below and gauge for yourselves; I get that it’s a mockumentary, but this schtick has already been done quite a bit, on TV variety shows, and in movies, that it mocking so-called Gangsta rap culture in 2011 just seems passé. I don’t think I could take more than a few minutes of this, assuming the trailer is indicative of all that the film has to offer. But if I’ve got time to kill on Sunday afternoon, I just might drop in and check it out in full:
