Flavor UnitOne Unit, a subsidiary of Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit shingle, has announced a partnership with Carl Weber’s Urban Books Media that will see the two adapt novels from the latter’s library of more than 2500 titles.

The multi-year co-production agreement will include adaptations for both film and TV.

“The deal unites two amazing teams in a dynamic partnership that will serve our audience on multiple platforms and take Urban Books Media to the next level,” Weber said.

“Great storytelling is what makes Latifah and I so passionate about this business,” added Shakim Compere, Latifah’s partner at Flavor Unit. “Carl Weber tells the stories we cannot get enough of and we are excited for this journey.”

Weber himself has written 26 novels, including 18 New York Times bestsellers.

No word on any specific titles that are first on their to-do list. Although a current adaptation of Weber’s ensemble drama "The Man in 3B," produced by TriDestined, which stars Lamman Rucker, Billy Dee Williams and DB Woodside, will be released on November 6 in a deal involving One Unit and Freestyle Releasing.
