Since the six-part Lifetime docuseries Surviving R. Kelly premiered on January 3, many celebrities have come forward denouncing their affiliation with R&B artist R. Kelly. On Thursday, the "I Believe I Can Fly" singer's daughter finally broke her silence.

In a series of posts on her Instagram story, Joann Kelly, who goes by Buku Abi, spoke out against her superstar father and sent prayers "for all the families and women who have been affected by my father’s actions."

The lengthy message began: "Before I start, I just want it to be known that I am speaking from the heart. Nothing I say or do not say is to hurt ANY party reading this or affected by this."

In response to those who felt like Abi should have reacted to the backlash earlier, she replied saying, "devastated is an understatement of how I feel right now."

Abi asserted that she and her father have been estranged for quite some time, and she makes every attempt at keeping her personal life off social media.

"Anyone that knows me personally or has been following me throughout the years knows that I do not have a relationship with my father," Abi wrote. "Nor do I speak on him or on his behalf. I also am not fond of dealing with my personal issues or personal life through social media, but I feel things are starting to get out of hand."

"The same monster you are all confronting me about is my father," she added. "I am well aware of who and what he is. I grew up in that house."

In case readers had a difficult time understanding her remarks, Abi offered another apology.

"This is a very difficult subject to speak on… again, I apologize if my words don't come out right.."

In her final slide, Abi thanked her family and other allies for helping endure the tumultuous year.

"This past year for my family has been very difficult, all the love and support you all continue to show is why we keep going. You all fuel us," her words read. "Family, friends, followers, fans, etc… I love you guys to pieces. Your love is appreciated and always will be."

Underneath some of her recent photos, fans who read the statement sent well-wishes to the artist.

"Much love, your statement was both brave and powerful at the same time," one commenter wrote. "Despite what these people say on social media, know that what is happening now is not your fault, and don’t let anyone make you feel guilty about someone else’s sins. You and your family are definitely in my prayers."

"Just seen your story. You don’t have to explain yourself to anyone. Head up, beautiful girl; you are very brave and very strong," another read.

A spokesperson for Kelly's ex-wife, Andrea "Drea" Kelly, spoke to People and revealed Kelly has decided not to establish a relationship with his children.

"Ms. Kelly has never denied Mr. Kelly from seeing their children, he has chosen to not be around," the representative said. "He has not tried to make contact with them."

Despite the controversy surrounding him, R. Kelly appeared unbothered by the allegations, performing to a crowded group of fans at his 52nd birthday party Wednesday night in Chicago.
