Rapper Young Dolph was shot and killed in Memphis, Tennessee, on Wednesday.

According to Fox 13, the store owner of Makeda's Butter Cookies said the rapper walked inside to buy some cookies before someone drove up and fired shots. The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m., NPR reports.

The rapper, whose real name is Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., released his debut album, King of Memphis, in 2016.

After news of the rapper's death circulated, fans began to gather in the area. 

New York Daily News reports that Dolph was born in Chicago and moved to Memphis with his family as a toddler. 

Officials have not said if there is a suspect in custody, nor have they shared further details around the shooting.
