Ray J took to social media to reflect on his future after hospitalization for a serious health condition, and he revealed details about his heart that could significantly impact his life.

What did Ray J say about his heart condition?

“I want to thank everybody for praying for me. I was in a hospital. My heart’s only beating 25%, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be alright,” the “One Wish” singer, 45, said in an Instagram video shared Sunday. “My health is not OK, so I thank everybody for supporting and praying for me through everything I’ve been in in the hospital.”

Ray J, born William Ray Norwood Jr., had a severe case of pneumonia and said in the post’s caption that he “almost died!!” and that he’s “alive because of your prayers and support!!”

He also shared updates on his work with the Zeus Network, including upcoming dating shows, before admitting, “My health is not OK.” He then thanked his mom, his sister Brandy, his dad and others who prayed for and supported him during this difficult time.

Ray J also mentioned his Love Cabin castmate Shila Hasanoff, who he said was by his side and “sitting in the f**king hospital, just watching me be sick,” per the video and E! News.

“There’s a few people that’s helped me kind of survive this,” he continued. “I love you, Shila.”

Ray J said, ‘I did my part here,’ while referencing his family

In other Instagram Live videos circulating on social media, Ray J said a doctor told him he may have only months to live due to his serious heart condition. In one clip reshared by The Neighborhood Talk, he stated, “2027 is definitely a wrap for me.” A friend who was nearby quickly pushed back, telling him not to say that and adding, “F**k the doctor.”

While Ray J did not mind sharing his truth with his viewers, his friend had positive things to say, including that he would live a long life, see his children grow up and possibly have other children as well. Another clip showed the same friend continuing to call out the doctor’s predictions, with Ray J stating that he had everything taken care of for his family.

“I shouldn’t have went this hard, bro,” he said in the video, per Page Six. He added, “My baby mama gonna be straight, my kids gonna be straight, if they wanna spend all the money, they can spend it. I did my part here.”

“And damn, when it’s all done, burn me, don’t bury me,” he said.

Ray J had the same health condition a few years ago

The singer-actor thanked his parents for taking him to the doctor, and he also thanked Brandy, who helped cover his medical bills “for the rest of the year.”

In 2021, Ray J experienced a bout of pneumonia during the COVID-19 pandemic. He revealed the severity of the condition to TMZ, stating that he thought he was going to die.

“I thought it was over,” he told the outlet at the time, explaining how he was surrounded by other patients who had tested positive for the virus during his hospitalization. “I started praying and knew God is good, so I just kept praying.”
