Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, has been committed to social justice advocacy and ending gun violence since Trayvon was tragically killed in 2012.
Now, Fulton is a member of a historic African-American sorority dedicated to public service, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
According to Watch The Yard, Fulton officially joined the sorority's Miami alumnae chapter, which was chartered in 1941.
Fulton is the founder of The Trayvon Martin Foundation, an organization dedicated to fighting gun violence, strengthening families, advocating for the youth and S.T.E.M. education for minorities and women, among other advocacy efforts.
Fulton and Trayvon's father, Tracy Martin, co-authored a book about Trayvon titled, "Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin."
As part of The Trayvon Martin Foundation, Fulton also established the Circle of Mothers, an effort to empower and support mothers who have lost their children, especially to gun violence. Circle of Mothers will host a retreat May 18-20 next month.
