Regina King showed up for the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival in Santa Margherita di Pula, Italy, making her first red carpet appearance since the death of her son five months ago. The actress was all smiles when she attended the event, where she accepted the Women Power Award alongside fellow honoree, Naomie Harris, Essence reports.

As Blavity previously reported, King lost her son, Ian Alexander Jr., who died by suicide shortly after celebrating his 26th birthday in January.

The Harder They Fall star stepped out of the spotlight for the past five months, missing events such as the Met Gala. King’s fans are now relieved to see her returning to public events.

The 51-year-old is staying busy with several projects. King is currently directing episodes of the upcoming television limited series A Man in Full. She’s also working on her second-ever feature film, graphic novel adaptation Bitter Root.

Additionally, King is starring in the upcoming film, Shirley, a biopic about the legendary congresswoman and first Black presidential candidate, Shirley Chisolm.
