Since completing Red Tails, McCallum has relocated to Prague, his wife's native country, and he is now in development of a slate of smaller, independent films that more closely resemble the projects he was involved with prior to his association with Lucasfilm. "I have a Russian film about the Babi Yar Massacre in development that is being directed by Sergei Loznitsa. I am also working with Tomás Masín on a Czech story about two brothers who escaped Czechoslovakia during the Cold War while being chased by 28,000 Soviet soldiers in what is still the largest manhunt in history. I'm also working on a film with David Oyelowo and developing a film with Laurence Bowen about the Boy Soldiers of Sierra Leone."

I lifted that from a November 30 StarWars.com news release titled An Independent Future For Rick McCallum – frequent George Lucas collaborator, who produced the three Star Wars prequels – The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith – as well as The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

In short, following Disney's recent acquisition of Lucasfilm, McCallum retired from Lucasfilm to continue to pursue the production of independent projects, like those mentioned in the above quote.

Of most interest to us obviously is the film he says he's working on with David Oyelowo, as well as the child soldiers of Sierra Leone project with Laurence Bowen.

What exactly this film with Oyelowo is, I can't say until I have more information to confirm or negate what I'm hearing. It's worth noting that McCallum also produced Red Tails, which Oyelowo co-starred in, so there's a history there.

As for the latter Laurence Bowen project, I think the short description tells us something.
