This year's recipient for the NAACP President's Award is none other than Rihanna. The organization announced on Tuesday that the singer would be awarded the honor during the NAACP Image Awards show, according to Pitchfork.

The award, which is given “in recognition of special achievement and distinguished public service,” was previously awarded to Jay-Z in 2019.

“From her business achievements through Fenty to her tremendous record as an activist and philanthropist, Rihanna epitomizes the type of character, grace, and devotion to justice that we seek to highlight in our President’s Award,” NAACP President Derrick Johnson said.

Rihanna, who last put out an album in 2016, has dedicated her time to other business and philanthropic ventures.

Clara Lionel Foundation, Rihanna's organization named after her grandparents, was honored at the Diamond Ball for its outreach efforts back in 2019, as Blavity previously reported. The foundation works to provide health care and education to underserved communities.

The foundation has funded over 59 international projects and assisted with the distribution of grants for emergency response efforts.

After Hurricane Dorian, which destroyed parts of the east coast and largely impacted the Bahamas, Rihanna announced sales from her lingerie line Savage X Fenty would go toward the foundation and its relief efforts. The foundation has also assisted people impacted by hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria since its launch in 2012.

Over the summer, Rih Rih used her platform to educate her followers on the massacre and human rights violations in Sudan.

At the time, over 100 people had been killed during peaceful protests for a civilian-backed government. Hundreds more had been inhumanely beaten and sexually assaulted.

To prove all of the philanthropist's hard work is paying off, Forbes announced in 2019 that she was the world's richest female musician with a net worth of $600 million. And to top things off, her native home of Barbados decided to build a museum in her honor.

In addition to having a museum established honoring her works, the island also named Rihanna as an ambassador of education, tourism and investment in 2018.
