After catching flack for her new single “Girls,” Rita Ora has issued an apology.
Ora shared her apology on her Twitter page on Monday morning. The singer says the song was based on her life and admitted to having romantic relationships with men and women.

Ora released the supposed bisexual anthem on May 11, and she has faced criticism for promoting the idea that bisexual girls are only experimenting.
Did the Rita Ora song remind anyone else of the straight girls that love to make out w each other at parties and on Instagram but bullied you in middle school for being gay pic.twitter.com/6JPSN3WqzI

rita ora’s new ‘bisexual anthem’ has me screeching inside with pain and here’s why!
50/50? I’m not 50% one way and 50% the other, I’m 100% bi and I certainly don’t need red wine to be ‘activate’ my sexuality.

Singers Kehlani and Hayley Kiyoko also called Ora out.
hate to be THAT guy but there were many awkward slurs, quotes, and moments that were like “word? word”

and don’t make this personal.
i have an incredible song out with one of the artists, and would love to work with the other three as well. & have met them all and respect them.

As expected, some fans thought critics were being too sensitive.

hayley kiyoko and her minions basically forced rita ora to officially come out in a statement because of a song that represented her OWN sexuality and not theirs. yup keep that “lesbian jesus” far away from me thank you because i’m not okay with that. pic.twitter.com/1OFKelbeoX
