Robin Roberts has something to say about Chris Rock’s reaction to Will Smith slapping him at the Oscars.
When talking to Access about her 20-year anniversary at Good Morning America, Roberts talked about how he admired how Rock handled the awkward and shocking situation.
“I respect the fact that he [Chris Rock] has not spoken to this point,” she said, as reported by EurWeb. “I respect the dickens out of that.”
She and Access interviewer Scott Evans also debated over what first question Roberts should ask if she gets to interview Rock about the altercation. Evans said his first question would be about who Rock called first afterward.
“That’s a really good question…now it’s going to be my first one,” she said.
Roberts is the latest celebrity to give their opinions on the slap, which came about from Rock making a joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s hair. Pickett-Smith has alopecia, leading many to assume that was the reason Rock made the joke.
Rock’s brother Kenny, however, alleged that Rock didn’t know about Pinkett-Smith’s condition, and if he did, he wouldn’t have made the joke.
Smith, on the other hand, has been banned from attending the Oscars telecast for 10 years as punishment. He has also been facing intense backlash from Hollywood for his action, including several film roles now being put on hold.
