Further details about Rod Wave’s recent Florida arrest have come to light, and he’s accused of violently choking the mother of his children.

As Blavity previously reported, the 23-year-old artist was charged with felony battery by strangulation while visiting his hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida, earlier this month.

During a routine traffic stop, officers uncovered that Rod Wave had a warrant out for his arrest in Osceola County. As a result, he was booked into Pinellas County Jail.

Initially, details about the alleged victim’s identity were unclear. However, Rod Wave’s arrest affidavit has revealed that he’s specifically accused of choking his ex-girlfriend, with whom he shares two children.

Rod Wave’s ex, whose name has been redacted from court records, says the musician entered her Osceola County residence, accused her of seeing other men and proceeded to choke her. Harrowingly, the pair’s two kids were inside the home during the altercation.

After leaving the scene, Rod Wave allegedly returned a second time to accuse his ex-girlfriend of stealing his cellphone. He also went on to damage some property before leaving again.

The woman, who had previously dated Rod Wave for about 4 years, proceeded to call 9-1-1 twice. Officers discovered that she sustained a scratch “near the left side of her neck,” though she ultimately declined medical attention.

While the rapper was long-gone by the time authorities arrived, the situation eventually caught up with him just a few counties over.

Rod Wave was released from Pinellas County Jail May 3 on $5,000 bail, and he has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

While the artist hasn’t explicitly spoken on the situation, he’s been active on social media.

I Know You Wanna See Me Fail But I Was Hand Picked. See No Evil,” Rod Wave wrote on Instagram.

He also recently tweeted “Being rich cool, but fame lame asf,” seemingly bemoaning the public attention on him over the matter.
