Russell Simmons has been busy this year, since signing a two-year first-look deal with HBO, last May.
Since then, he’s put into development, an animated superhero serial based on a comic book from RavenHammer Comics called The Harlem Shadow, created by Brian Williams and Christian Colbert, with Common to voice the title role.
And most recently, he teamed up with director Steve McQueen, for a project at HBO that’s been described as “an exploration of a young African American man’s experience entering New York high society, with a past that may not be what it seems.” And he also paired up with director John Singleton, on another HBO project called Club Life: Miami – a drama that’s said to be set against the South Beach club scene and follows a reformed criminal who moves to Miami and gains a new lease on life as he embraces the vibrant, youthful and transgressive world.
Simmons has now set his sights on the big screen, to produce an untitled action/comedy for Fox, which centers on two detectives pairing up to investigate a murder in Stockholm.
Enzo Miletti and Scott Wilson (a pair of actor/writers) have been hired to pen the script.
Ryan Jones is overseeing the project for Fox.
No other info is available on the project at this time.
