One of the hardest working men in Showbiz, Samuel L. Jackson, has joined the cast of MGM's upcoming reboot of Robocop, with Brazilian helmer Jose Padilha (probably best know for Elite Squad, and its sequel) directing the film.

Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) will star as the title character, and Gary Oldman will play the mad scientist who created him.

As for Sam Jackson, he's signed on to play a character named Pat Novak, described as "a charismatic TV mogul and a powerful force in the Robocop world."

I don't recall a Pat Novak in the original. Maybe his character will be similar to that played by Ronny Cox in the original flick.

So, let me get the chant going… will the brotha live to see the end of the flick, or will Robocop thump him? 🙂

Strike Entertainment is producing the movie, which is aiming for a September shoot in Toronto, and a summer 2013 release.
