A long-lasting relationship may be rare to come by these days, but Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson are celebrating 43 years of marriage.

According to People, one of the ways the Snakes On A Plane actor commemorated his 43rd year of marriage with his wife LaTanya is with a few stories on his Instagram. He first posted a black and white photo of the pair in a warm embrace holding hands with the words, “Happy anniversary,” across it and noted that it seems like they reached this monumental moment “in the blink of the eye.”

He then posted a cute picture in color joking that he was tested for 10 years before they officially tied the knot so they’ve actually been together 53 years.

The couple met in college and have been inseparable ever since. They got married in 1980 and share one child Zoe, 41, who is a producer, People reported.

He ended the sweet tribute by posting a video clip of them dancing together on a yacht enjoying each other with the words, “I think we can make 43 more!!! Love everlasting!!!!!!”

Black love is not pushed in mainstream media very much, so it’s always great to see couples, including Morris Chestnut and Pam Byse or Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance, which the LaTanya spoke to during an interview with People in March 2022 when they revealed their secret for sustaining a marriage that has gone the distance theirs has. They disclosed they “made a pact” to stay together.

“In the beginning, we always said the most revolutionary thing that Black people could do was stay together, raise their children with the nucleus of having a father and a mother, since everybody likes to pretend that that’s not the dynamic of the African American family. That it’s just children out here being raised by women, which we know is false,” the broadway actress told the publication.

Samuel credits his wife for saving his life and helping him become the recognized actor he is today due to her being a support system when he struggled with a drug addiction in the ’90s prior to his role in Jungle Fever, which put him on the map and catapulted his career.

“She gave me the chance to be the man I was supposed to be,” he said.

The Kill Room star shared that a true union looks like “two people who respect each other, love each other and look out for each other.”

Congrats to the happy couple!
