The internet is having fun at the expense of Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the former White House press secretary who announced her bid for governor of her home state of Arkansas on Monday. The 38-year-old, who was widely regarded as a liar while working under former President Donald Trump, is now being mocked by people who refuse to take her next step seriously.

Some are wondering if Sanders is actually serious about running for political office.

Sanders' critics were struggling to understand why anybody would vote for her.

She received sarcastic applause from some social media users after announcing her bid.

According to some, it's not only the lying that haunts Sanders' reputation but also the fact that she's associated with a former president who was impeached twice.

While the jokes floated throughout social media, some people noted the serious consequences of voting for a dishonest political official.

Sanders, who announced her candidacy in the Republican primary with an online video, vowed to stand up to the “radical left” while fighting for freedom and “law and order," Bloomberg reported

“Everything that we love about America is at stake. And with the radical left now in control of Washington, your governor is your last line of defense. In fact, your governor must be on the front line,” she said.

The comment gave the internet more reasons to laugh.

Some were left with pure bewilderment after hearing news of Sanders' campaign.

At least one social media user questioned the validity of her political aspiration.

For many, the idea of seeing Sanders back in the spotlight simply wasn't sitting right.

Sanders, the daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, began considering her gubernatorial run before she left the White House, CNN reported

She served as the White House press secretary from 2017 to 2019. She will now run against Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who is term-limited.
