Rappers IDK and Saucy Santana have spoken out on social media after homophobic trolls criticized their recent collaboration.
The viral star was featured on DMV rapper IDK’s latest album, F65, and he said he feels ecstatic that he was given this opportunity.
The single “Pinot Noir,” featuring Jucee Froot, was released last week.
Before this, Santana broke barriers for LGBTQ+ men in rap and expressed an avid interest in collaborating with more male rappers.
While it was a significant win for LGBTQ+ rap trailblazing, IDK was scrutinized for featuring the openly gay rapper on the track.
After releasing the single last week, he became the victim of a slanderous string of homophobic criticism because of this decision.
IDK has gracefully responded to the backlash by tweeting in appreciation of Santana.
“And also, I don’t have to be a gay rapper to put an openly gay rapper on my song… I heard the beat, and I heard a very talented artist by the name of Saucy Santana on that beat. I love him forever for taking that risk with me. Now we have a banger for the summer,” he said.

Santana continued to show love to IDK. On Monday, the “Material Gworl” rapper posted a thank-you video for IDK’s acknowledgment of his talent.
“I just want to show gratitude and recognize him for including me in his space – him being a straight rapper, me being an openly gay rapper,” he said.

He also began to expound further on his particular experience being an openly gay rapper in an industry that is predominantly heterosexual.
“He wasn’t worried about what I rap about, who I am, how he thought I would act; he just saw talent,” he said.
Additionally, he made it a point to endorse the track, calling it “the hit of the summer.”
