A Connecticut school secretary resigned from her position after video footage surfaced of her yelling racial slurs and spitting on a Black couple. According to the New Haven Register, Corinne Terrone went on the tirade at a ShopRite grocery store on Friday evening. The now-viral video involved a Black man and woman who she repeatedly called "n****r" and threatened.

“Put your hands on me, come on," Terrone yelled. She then took out her phone to record the couple.

The former Hamden Public Schools employee, who was standing next to her two children, called the man a "motherf**ker" before spitting at the pair twice.

Superintendent Jody Goeler identified Terrone, and Karen Kaplan, the Hamden Public Schools director of program innovation, technology and communications, shared the woman “has been separated from employment effective immediately.”

The school district released a statement on its website outlining the details of the incident, deeming Terrone's actions "abhorrent conduct." It also filed a report with the Department of Children and Families because children were present at the disturbing scene.

"The video also appears to show the Hamden employee spitting at the aforementioned African-American male as he was walking away from the employee. It also appears that the employee’s children witnessed her conduct.  Because her children were present, school administrators filed a DCF report," the statement read.

The school system noted its human resource director arranged an investigatory meeting with Terrone before her resignation.

"The language the employee used in the video is in conflict with the values of the Hamden Public School System.  Someone who will use that sort of language in any setting, whether public or private, is not someone we want anywhere near our children," the district continued.

Public Information Officer Lieutenant Joseph Murgo released a statement on behalf of the East Haven Police Department, stating the incident is being investigated and asking potential victims to reach out to the agency.

"The employee is separated from service, and we hope that her children will receive the support they need after witnessing such a traumatic event," Hamden Public Schools concluded its statement.

Per NBC New York, Terrone has not been charged. Mayor Curt Leng released a statement on Saturday afternoon expressing his shock and thanking the school system for taking immediate action.

"What I saw was vile and shocking. While I am disgusted and disheartened seeing such hateful behavior, wildly unacceptable anywhere, I am thankful for the swift and effective actions taken by our school system to address this head on and make clear that hate and violence will not be tolerated," he wrote.
