Voting for our Grand Finale ended on December 21. The winning film is “A Day In The Life” by MatthewSahJenifer. We introduced Sah when we announced him as the winner of Round 5 back in November. (Click here to read up on him and the film). Sah takes home a cash prize of $4,000.

The winner of the season's popular vote is Raafi Rivero's "Their Eyes Were Watching Gummy Bears" which was written by Christopher Roy Poindexter and produced by Poindexter and Jason Pollard. This award is for the film that accumulated the most votes during the season among those films that did not win a qualifying round.

Overall, we've distributed $10,000 in winnings over the course of the season while accomplishing our main goal of highlighting the diverse range of work about people of color being created by artists under the radar and encouraging the continued creation of such work.

We will continue streaming all of the participating films from Season 1 on our channel on SnagFilms through the end of the month. So take the opportunity to check them out before they're taken down.

We thank all of the filmmakers who graciously shared their work during the past 18 months. The Showcase itself has evolved and, as we embark on a second season, there will be a lot more changes. We've learned a lot and look forward to introducing more new and exciting work to you soon.
