It doesn't officially open until April 13th, but New Yorkers will get a chance to see it 2 weeks early thanks to a preview screening of it at the theaters at the Museum Of The Moving Image in Queens.
The Neema Barnette-directed, TD Jakes-produced drama/thriller Woman Thou Art Loosed!: On the 7th Day, will screen for the public on Thursday, March 29, at 7:00 pm, followed by a Q&A session with director Barnette, actress Pam Grier, and producer Jeff Clanagan in person.
Blair Underwood, Sharon Leal, Nicole Beharie, and the aforementioned Pam Grier star in this second film in Pastor TD Jake’s Woman Thou Art Loosed! series – a film that centers on a husband and wife who find themselves in the midst of a crisis, when their young daughter is kidnapped. The kidnapper is supposedly a serial killer who murders his victims "On the 7th Day," hence the title. As you'd expect, during their search for their daughter, secrets are revealed that putting the marriage and their daughter's life in jeopardy.
I saw the film at the Pan African Film Festival last month; I haven't reviewed it because, well, it just wasn't for me. Final answer 🙂
And instead of beating it up in a review, I figured I'd just leave you all to see it for yourselves; the audience I saw it with at PAFF (a packed house) seemed to mostly love it. So run with that!
Tickets to the 3/29 screening are $15 public/$10 members. Get yours now, because I'm assuming they'll sell out quickly.
And if you need a reminder, here's the film's trailer:
