The Jamaican athlete that was in a relationship with Track and Field sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson has admitted to being abusive during their relationship.

Richardson first alleged the abuse on her Instagram last week.

Janeek Brown admitted to the abuse in a new interview, confirming everything that Richardson had alleged; however, she said Richardson only wanted clout. Brown said that she was abusive toward Richardson once, and she did try to move on from that but had no luck.

“I was abusive once that there’s physical evidence of,” Brown said. “And we moved on, and even after then I was trying to move on from that, we still got nowhere.”

Brown then encourages Richardson to file charges against her if that is something she wants to do. She said they were in a toxic relationship that had a lot of fighting and blaming each other.

“We just keep on fighting,” Brown said. “blaming each other and the regular relationship problems.”

During the interview, Brown appeared irritated and even annoyed by the lining of questions about her relationship with Richardson. Brown said that she was going through something at the time, but she has returned to social media to find herself.

“Yeah, I was going through something—I was finding myself, that’s why I am coming to social media, you feel me?” Brown said. “So yeah, it’s a transformation; I’m going to find myself now. I may look different now.”

Last week, Richardson took to her Instagram to reveal that she recently got out of a relationship with Brown, who she said was allegedly abusive toward her.

Richardson alleged that Brown also stole from her and revealed that she protected Brown, despite being ridiculed by her family.

“I was in a relationship with a Jamaican athlete that never cared about me from jump,” Richardson said. “I was abused and stole from yet protected her from the judgment of her country and family while they dragged me. I had to deal with [homophobia] and so much more that I’m still healing from.”

Richardson also uploaded Fetty Wap‘s “The Truth” in a separate slide. She said that she feels good living in her truth and then shared a photo of herself and Brown before taking it down.

“Feels amazing living,” Richardson said. “in my truth [smiling halo emoji].”

Despite winning the 100-meter dash at the U.S. Olympic trials in June 2021, Richardson did not make the USA Track and Field roster due to a 30-day suspension after testing positive for THC. She was barred from participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
