Shannon Sharpe has apologized after getting into an altercation on Friday night while attending the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Sharpe apologized on his Undisputed show Monday and said he takes full responsibility for the scuffle.

“I want to apologize for my behavior,” Sharpe said. “For the last six and a half years, I’ve preached accountability and responsibility. And I take full responsibility for what transpired. It does not matter what Dillon Brooks said or how many times he said it.”

Friday’s incident at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles started when Sharpe went back and forth with Grizzlies player Dillon Brooks. According to TMZ, the situation escalated as Ja Morant and Steven Adams jumped in to defend their teammate.

Sharpe also got into a confrontation with Morant’s father, Tee. After being escorted off the court, Sharpe later returned to his seat and made amends with Tee, The Athletic reported.

In his apology, Sharpe said he allowed the situation to get out of control.

“Me being the responsible person. Me having the platform that I have and having so many people look up to me, I was wrong,” he said. “I should have lowered the temperature in the arena. Instead, I turned the temperature up, and I let it get out of hand.”
