When it comes to the mother of his children, NBA icon Shaquille O’Neal will never use a particular phrase to describe them, Black Enterprise reports.
While appearing on the podcast, 2 Lies and 1 Truth, he praised the women he’s had kids with, calling them and all women “the strongest beings on this planet.”
“Their moms did a great job of planning activities. You know you women need a lot more credit and a lot more respect because you guys do really all the work,” he said.
O’Neal also added that he’ll never “use the term baby mamas” to refer to the mothers of his children. He finds the term offensive and degrading.
“That’s why I don’t want to degrade them by saying baby mamas. They’re two beautiful Black women that did a tremendous job,” he said.
The 50-year-old also showed some love to his kids. When host Brandi Rhodes asked O’Neal what his best and worst memories with his children are, he had a poignant response.
“The best moment is just coming home every day and hearing five, six different voices,” he shared. “Worst moment is when the separation happened and they weren’t there every day. That was probably my worst moment.”
The businessman’s comments about his family come days after he found himself beefing with Kanye West on Twitter. As Blavity previously reported, the rapper took to the platform to call out O’Neal’s business deals, specifically his partnership with Canadian billionaire Jamie Salter, who owns a brand development, marketing and entertainment company known as ABG.
“Shaq is in business with Jamie Salter,” Ye tweeted last week. “Jaimie first said he’s 50/50 with David Beckham and 50/50 with Shaq I said ‘Jamie . . . There’s no such thing as 50/50 in business . . . Who has the extra 1 percent for the control and voting rights.”
In typical Shaq fashion, he didn’t take the slander without clapping back. He shared his own tweet urging Ye to look within before judging others.
“Believe me you don’t know me like that,” he wrote. “Worry about your business, and to quote the once great Kanye west ‘I got more money than you, so why would i listen to you’ take my advice get your family business in order. Have a great day brother.”
