Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was one of the happiest athletes on the track after coming in second place behind her Jamaican teammate, Shericka Jackson. The always vibrant Fraser-Pryce showed off her motherly touch after Thursday’s 200-meter race, attentively fixing Jackson’s hair from all angles to make sure her younger teammate was ready for the cameras.

As she has done throughout her career, Fraser-Pryce touched the hearts of all her fans who have fallen in love with her sparkling personality.
Shelly – Ann Frazer Pryce is probably the most loved athlete. Always smiling and enjoying her opponents success as much as her own.

I sincerely hope the Pocket Rocket is recognised for her humanity and love of others – win, lose or draw … she is truly a GEM (outside Bajan).

Fraser-Pryce’s heartwarming gesture is reminiscent of another unforgettable moment from Simone Biles, who went viral when she showed love to her younger teammate at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2021. At the time, 25-year-old Biles tenderly placed a ribbon in the hair of 16-year-old Zoe Miller, as Blavity previously reported.

Fraser-Pryce continued to hype Jackson when the two Jamaicans appeared together in a post-race interview. As the new champion expressed her joy during the interview, the 35-year-old mother showered her younger teammate with cheers.

“I just wanted to focus on my lane,” Jackson said in her interview, according to a clip posted on Twitter. “I know Shelly’s probably one of the best curb runners, so I know she was going to go hard. So I wanted to go run the curb as hard as possible. I know I’m strong and I know I’m fast coming home.”
As Blavity previously reported, Jackson won the 200-meter race with 21.45 seconds, setting a new national and championship record. She also became the second fastest woman of all time, trailing only American icon Florence Griffith-Joyner, CNN reports.
