Currently on a nationwide media tour, promoting her new book, "Year of Yes," Shonda Rhimes, via her Shondaland production shingle, along with partner Betsy Beers, are eyeing a feature film collaboration with the Mark Gordon Co’s Mark Gordon that will see them produce "My Husband’s Ex-Wife," a comedy which is being scripted by "Grey’s Anatomy" and "Scandal" writer, Michelle Lirtzman.
The film’s story will follow a pregnant young woman married to an older man, who finds herself juggling a variety of issues she’s never had to face before, including her husband’s ex-wife being diagnosed with cancer, and its influence on her marriage.
The Mark Gordon Company will finance the flick, with Gordon, Rhimes and Beers producing.
It’ll mark Rhimes’ first feature film producer credit.
It’s been a busy year for Shondaland, with new projects announced over the past 10 months, including a Baghdad-set military drama that hails from Zoanne Clack; an event TV series adaptation of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson’s "The Warmth of Other Suns," which has been picked up by the FX network and is being developed by Dee Rees; and a new series titled "The Catch," written by Jennifer Schuur.
