We’ve all had it happen. You’re just minding your business, being revolutionary, calling out structural inequalities when someone comes out of nowhere trying to speak their mind, saying a whole bunch of nothing. You might be writing on Facebook about police brutality against black people, how they prey on you and yours, and then some non-POC comes out the cut saying it’s not about race because they were pulled over by an officer last October.
Maybe you were angry because you went to the airport and had your fro frisked, and so you get on Facebook, trying to talk about the many ways your body is treated as a threat to “safety,” only to have some white girl you haven’t talked to in five years derail the conversation to be about the thickness of her hair.
Or maybe you’re just trying to move forward, and basics keep being ignorant and start playing games on your feed to maintain the status quo. As a result, you find it’s 11:30 a.m. on Monday, and you’re tapped out, having already exhausted your weekly clap backs quota.
