Former Bad Boy artist Dr. Shyne Barrow has launched a scholarship named after former boss Diddy for a Belizean student to study in America at the legendary HBCU, Howard University.

On Wednesday, the rapper-turned-opposition leader of Belize announced the Sean Diddy Combs Scholarship on his Instagram with a lengthy caption expressing his excitement for the new venture.

“Ensuring access to education for those young people who are financially challenged is the only way Belize will ever realize her full potential,” Shyne wrote. “Education has always been extremely important to my dear brother @diddy and I thus in that vein I asked Diddy to make Belize a part of his philanthropic support for his alma mater Howard University so that at least one Belizean Student can get the benefit of attending one of the United States most prestigious HBC Universities.”

“I thank Diddy for always supporting my efforts to help Belize in every way possible. This full scholarship will be for a student graduating 6th form to attain their bachelor’s degree at Howard University in Tech, Business or Education,” he added.

To qualify for the scholarship participants must come from a low-income household, have a 3.0 GPA, and write an essay about the field they are interested in majoring in and how they will use this degree to help Belize.

Prospective students must return to Belize after graduation and contribute to the country’s development.

Students can send emails to loobarrowbz@gmail.com for further application information.

Diddy and Shyne’s relationship has been complicated since their Bad Boy record days dating back to the late ’90s, but the two have put the past behind them.

Shyne changed his name to Moses Michael Levi Barrow in 2006 and, in 2020, won his election race in the Belizean House of Representatives which Diddy endorsed.
