Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles and her boyfriend Jonathan Owens, an NFL veteran, are spicing up their relationship with some intriguing head-to-head athletic competitions. The couple showed off their competitive spirit when they recently participated in a rope challenge.

"So we're going to do a rope challenge. Gymnast vs NFL player," Biles said in the episode of her Facebook Watch series, Simone Versus Herself.

The two athletes decided to put $50 on the line and engaged in a battle to see who can climb the rope quickly. The Olympic gymnast of course didn't have any problems as the couple climbed the rope. But Owens wasn't far behind as the race came to an end.

"Well I had you about three-fourths of the way," the Houston Texans safety said. "I just burned out."

The Facebook Watch series also follows Biles as she prepares for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. Additionally, the show reflects on the athlete's rise to stardom and gives her an opportunity to talk about her personal life, People reported.

"Outside of the sport, you try to be, like, human," the 24-year-old said in the series.

As Blavity previously reported, Biles also opened up about her upbringing in foster care and having been adopted by her grandparents.

“I don't remember a lot about foster care, but I definitely knew that we had been taken from our biological mom and then you just think you're going to go back to her," she said in the episode titled “Who Am I?”

"We were very fortunate that we got to stay with our siblings because a lot of the time you either get re-grouped to home to home to home or you and your siblings get split up,” she added.

The four-time Olympic gold medalist turned to Instagram last year to announce her relationship with Owens. According to Yahoo, Biles said the couple "vibe on the same level" and have the same sense of humor. Owens said he didn't know about Biles' athletic career before they started dating. But it was the gymnast's work ethic that grabbed his attention.

The couple said they took advantage of the downtime during the pandemic and became closer to each other.

"What's been really exciting is being able to experience life with my family and friends," Biles told People in April. "Getting to go to my boyfriend's [NFL] games. I told him that I've never been to so many games in a season in my life. Because usually, I'm so busy and all over the place."

Owens attended the 2021 U.S. Gymnastics Championship last month, where his girlfriend claimed her seventh national title.
