Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens recently got engaged and according to People, they couldn’t be happier.
The couple is set to get married next year although a date hasn’t been announced. But while their fans wait for them to fill us in on the details, here’s what we know about them so far.
Owens is a safety for the Houston Texans
According to Harper’s Bazaar, Owens has been playing in the NFL since 2018. He was first drafted to the Arizona Cardinals, then signed with the Houston Texans in 2020.
The pair met on a dating app
The couple met on the dating app Raya shortly before the pandemic began. According to MyImperfectLife, Raya is an exclusive app and only about 8% of the people who apply are accepted. Additionally, users are required to have a celebrity friend recommend them and pass a rigorous screening process.
Owens said he didn't know who the gymnast was
Despite being on the exclusive dating app, Owens said he had no idea who Biles was.
“I didn’t know who she was,” he told Texas Monthly. “I just hadn’t heard of her, and when I told her that, that’s one of the things she liked.”
They became "Instagram official" in August 2020
Biles made it “Instagram official” with Owens in a sweet Instagram post.
“It’s just us,” she captioned the photo.

They took a 'bae-cation' to Belize to celebrate their one-year anniversary
According to Glamour, Biles holds dual citizenship in the United States and Belize. To celebrate their one-year anniversary together, she and Owens took a “bae-cation” to the tropical island. They even documented it for Instagram.
