Sexyy Red has had a breakout year after releasing her massive single, “SkeeYee,” which reached No. 17 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. While “SkeeYee” has been one of the most notable terms of the year, it’s unclear whether many people know what the popular chant means.

In a new interview with Montreality, the St. Louis rapper explained the phrase’s meaning.

“People probably don’t understand ‘SkeeYee,” Sexyy Red said. “Okay ‘SkeeYee,’ that’s when like if you see a cute girl or somebody with a big booty or you trying to holler at somebody, they call that they geek call. A geek is a crackhead, dope fiend. Like when you serving geeks where I’m from, that’s a geek call.”

“You see some geeks on the other side of the street, like ‘SkeeYee’ so they know you got that s**t in. That’s our lil callin’. SkeeYee!”

Sexyy Red has been on fire with a bevy of hot singles coupled with the dynamic features: “Pound Town,” NLE Choppa’s “Slut Me Out” and “Pound Town 2,” which became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100.

Recently, she teamed up with Lil Durk for her latest single, “Hellcats SRTs 2.”

She was also defended by fellow rapper NLE Choppa back in July.

“I keep seeing the hate that y’all have on my girl Sexyy Red. I’m just a real supporter, a real fan, I love her energy and I love her music personally,” he said in a video posted on Twitter. “Y’all need to stop doing people like that, treating people like that. Y’all not gonna always hear something that y’all accustomed to or used to. Y’all need people like Sexyy Red to create a balance from serious to shit that you can have fun to.”
