Social media users are calling on Oprah Winfrey to denounce her former talk show partner, Dr. Mehmet Oz, who has now received an endorsement from Donald Trump while vying for a Senate seat as a Republican in Pennsylvania. Oz gained his popularity on The Oprah Winfrey Show while often giving health advice to viewers. According to Sky News, Oz made more than 60 appearances on Winfrey’s show before it stopped airing in 2011.

The celebrity surgeon, who debuted the The Dr. Oz Show in 2009, is now getting rave reviews from Trump as he prepares for the Republican primary in Pennsylvania.

“This is all about winning elections in order to stop the Radical Left maniacs from destroying our Country,” Trump said in a statement, according to NPR. “I have known Dr. Oz for many years, as have many others, even if only through his very successful television show. He has lived with us through the screen and has always been popular, respected, and smart.”

Oz said the former president “knows how critical it is to change the kinds of people we send to Washington.”

“I am proud to receive his endorsement,” he said.

Some of Oprah’s fans are now urging her to dissociate herself from Oz.

In 2018, Trump appointed Oz to the president’s council on sports, fitness and nutrition. On March. 23, Oz bashed the Biden administration on Twitter, saying they removed him from the position.

“President Trump appointed me to two terms on the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition,” he wrote. “The White House just emailed me demanding my resignation by the end of the day.”

Oz also lashed out about COVID-19 regulations.

“Clearly, Joe Biden can’t be around anyone who doesn’t completely fall in line with his fear-mongering authoritarian one-size-fits-all COVID handling,” he wrote. “I am proud of my service and will not resign.”

Trump praised Oz’s medical credentials.

“He even said that I was in extraordinary health, which made me like him even more (although he also said I should lose a couple of pounds!),” the former president said in his endorsement.
