The Webby Awards have happened every year since 1996, when most of us barely knew what the internet was.

Put on by The international Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the awards are now often called “The Oscars of the internet.”

Every year, the ceremony gets a little grander; and this year, it honored many who have harnessed the power of the internet to reach the masses, including Gillian Anderson, Van Jones, Steve Buscemi and perhaps best of all, Solange.

Solange took home the springy trophy for Artist of the Year.

In awarding the singer-songwriter, the Academy noted that she has shown “remarkable use of the internet as a force for promoting community and diversity.”

Deciding to tell us things we all already know, the Academy went on to say, “Solange is one of the greatest artists of our time.”

Beyond her music, Solange was lauded for her website, Saint Heron, which the Academy says “has provided a completely new and unique space for collaboration between artists, as well as a large audience for creative expressions by artists of color.”

And what did Solange have to say after being showered by all of this praise?

After receiving her award from dynamite contemporary artist Kara Walker, just five words: “I got five on it.”

What does that even mean, you ask?

Well, my young friend, let us introduce you to Luniz. No, no, don’t thank us, thank Solange.

And why just five words for her acceptance speech?

Well, that’s the rule for Webby acceptances speeches — past ones include Kim Kardasian’s “Nude selfies ‘til I die,” Prince’s “Everything you think is true,” and of course, our friend Kanye uttering, “I can’t stand short speeches.”

Solange added a few more words after on Twitter:

Congratulations to you Solange!

Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to celebrate with a few spins of “Cranes.”
