Solange fans and music lovers alike are buzzing over A Seat at the Table, her new album released last Friday. The unapologetically black 21-track album comes nearly four years after her True EP and eight years after her full-length Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams album.

Last month, Solange penned an essay about the burden of being black and unaccepted in white spaces. A Seat at the Table echoes similar sentiments, giving much praise to black culture and liberation.

Sunday afternoon, her label, Saint Heron announced the album’s accompanying visuals for two songs, “Cranes in the Sky” and “Don’t Touch My Hair”. Both videos were directed by Solange and her husband, Alan Ferguson. As described on Saint Heron, Solange “is not interested in remaining silent in a critical time of identity, empowerment, grief, healing and self-expression – let alone, artistic expression”.

And her breathtaking style is, by no surprise, a Tina Knowles-Lawson original.
