Here’s yet another clip from Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave, which opens in limited release this Friday, after a much-celebrated, albeit brief trip through the film festival circuit.
In this new short clip – titled
Anatomy of a Scene: Video of ’12 Years a Slave’ – courtesy of
NYTimes.com, director Steve McQueen narrates a scene that takes place on
Epps’ (
Michael Fassbender’s) plantation, and involves
Northup (
Chiwetel Ejiofor) and Epps in a somewhat humorous melee – at least, it was meant to be, as you’ll hear McQueen describe his motivations and intent in the clip below.
Fox Searchlight will open 12 Years A Slave theatrically on October 18, in a limited roll-out and will then expand nationwide in successive weeks.
The drama boasts an impressive cast of actors that also includes Lupita Nyong’o, Paul Dano, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ruth Negga, Adepero Oduye, Alfre Woodard, Scoot McNairy, Garret Dillahunt, Brad Pitt, Michael K. Williams, Paul Giamatti, Sarah Paulson and others.
