An Arkansas jail forced inmates to wear Nike shirts in their mugshots.

On Wednesday night, activist Shaun King tweeted pictures of several people wearing Nike shirts over their clothing in booking photos for the Union County Sheriff’s Department.

The pictures were removed from the website less than an hour after King’s tweet, according to Arkansas Democrat Gazette. The earliest picture dates back to September 15. Kaepernick’s Nike campaign was announced on September 3.

Sheriff Ricky Roberts insists the shirts were given to inmates who lacked "proper attire during the booking process." He said the shirts were not purchased for this purpose, and they already had them at the station.

"We are not, and will not, be influenced by current political and social debates in the media," Roberts said in a statement to Fox 16. "This shirt is not only in use now but has also been for several months prior. We have taken steps to rectify this issue and insure that this will never happen again."
