Well… it'll be one busy day of film screenings for members of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) this Saturday, June 23, with 2 of this year's high-profile black films scheduled to screen during the NABJ's annual convention in New Orleans this weekend!
We already told you that Ava DuVernay's Middle Of Nowhere will screen at the convention on the 23rd; this afternoon, I learned that Spike Lee's Red Hook Summer will screen there and then as well.
And I believe the cut that will be screened is the most recent one that the rest of the country will see, when the film is released in August. So this is good news for those of you who will be in attendance. You folks will get to see it before anyone else!
By the way, Spike Lee will be present for a Q&A to follow the NABJ screening, which only makes this even more noteworthy.
And I should note that Ava is flying down as well for a Q&A that will follow her screening, so this Saturday should be a highlight of the convention, which actually began today, and ends on the 24th.
