Is Squid Game: The Challenge coming back?
Well, Netflix has officially announced the renewal of Squid Game: The Challenge for a second season. The season finale, where the ultimate winner claims a substantial $4.56 million reward, aired on Dec. 6.
Squid Game: The Challenge has been in Netflix’s Top 10 English TV list, holding the No. 1 spot for the weeks of Nov. 20 and 27, reaching the Top 10 in 93 countries.
Brandon Riegg, Netflix VP of Nonfiction Series, expressed Netflix’s enthusiasm for greenlighting the second season, stating, “There was no red light in our decision to greenlight season 2 of Squid Game: The Challenge, the most ambitious unscripted show we’ve premiered at Netflix. We’re so excited to continue the franchise of Squid Game with our team in Korea, and producers at Studio Lambert and The Garden for this epic competition series.”
While Squid Game: The Challenge does well in the reality competition genre, the scripted drama Squid Game has already made history as Netflix’s most popular series of all time, amassing over 1.65 billion view hours within the first 28 days of its September 2021 premiere. The scripted show has already been renewed for a second season.

The 10-episode competition series is a co-production between Studio Lambert and The Garden, part of ITV Studios. Executive producers include Nicola Brown, Tim Harcourt, John Hay, Toni Ireland, Anna Kidd, Stephen Lambert, Louise Peet, Nia Yemoh and Stephen Yemoh.
‘Squid Game: The Trials’ and forthcoming video game
Expanding the world of the show, Netflix is launching “Squid Game: The Trials”, a live fan experience starting Dec. 6 in Los Angeles. Attendees can engage in six immersive and competitive activities inspired by the original series, accompanied by a Night Market offering themed food and beverages.
Also, Netflix is developing a video game set in the Squid Game universe, allowing players to compete in familiar games from the series against their friends.
