In case you missed what's happened in the entertainment world this past week, we thought we'd get you caught up to speed on five things that Black women have been up to.
Here is a list of all of the fun things your faves just did.
Issa Rae Stuns In French Wedding With Longtime Beau Louis Dame
Insecure star Issa Rae caught us by surprise after she posted stunning photos from her private and intimate wedding on Monday with a hilarious caption.
"A) Impromptu photo shoot in a custom @verawang dress," the creative wrote. "B) My girls came to help me, but they all coincidentally had on the same dress! They were sooooo embarrassed. C) Then I took a few flicks with Somebody’s Husband."
As Blavity previously reported, Rae married her longtime boyfriend Louis Dame at the Jean-Cap -Ferrat area in the South of France.
The 36-year-old has publicly stated that she chooses to keep her private life under wraps.
"I remember, back in the day, I used to post my relationship from a long time ago," she told Bustle in a Sept. 2020 interview. "And I remember I saw these commenters that I didn't know, comment on an old picture and be like, 'See.' And I was like, 'Oh, I don't like this.' And then, from that point forward, I was like, 'Oh, I'm never acknowledging anything.'"
Tiffany Cross Blasts Megyn Kelly For Coming At Naomi Osaka
MSNBC anchor Tiffany Cross had some words for Megyn Kelly, after the former Fox News host essentially called Naomi Osaka disingenuous.
"This week I'm taking a slightly different approach and addressing someone completely irrelevant," Cross said during her show The Cross Connection with Tiffany Cross. "I'm speaking of course about Megyn Kelly.
Last week, Kelly said that the 23-year-old tennis champion can't handle the press, but was able to seemingly grace covers of multiple magazines and do interviews for her features.
Poor @naomiosaka blocked me while taking a shot at me (guess she’s only tough on the courts). She is apparently arguing that she shot her many covers b/4 publicly claiming she was too socially anxious to deal w/press. Truth is she just doesn’t like Qs she can’t control. Cross continued in her segment, calling Kelly a "bully" for attacking Osaka in addition to other notable Black women like journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones, Olympic athlete Gwen Berry and Meghan Markle.
"When it comes to us [Black women], sister, stop punching above your weight. You keep asking for this smoke that you really don't want," Cross said. "You wanna act like a high school mean girl and you'll get treated that way."
"Sit down. Be humble, while our left stroke keeps going viral. Let the grown women speak — you're not invited to this table. You don't have the range," she concluded.
Simone Biles Withdraws From Tokyo Competition To Prioritize Mental Health
Yet another fan-favorite, Simone Biles is now out of two Olympic competitions. The four-time Olympic gold medalist withdrew from competition Tuesday, citing the preservation of her mental health as a priority.
"I have to focus on my mental health,” Biles said, DailyMail UK reported. "I just think mental health is more prevalent in sports right now… we have to protect our minds and our bodies and not just go out and do what the world wants us to do."
The gymnast also credited Naomi Osaka as inspiration for encouraging her to be authentic and to put herself first.
“I feel like I’m also not having as much fun — and this Olympic Games I wanted it to be for myself and it felt like I was still doing for other people — and that hurts my heart that doing what I love has been taken away from me,” Biles said, also noting that she and her teammates are “not just athletes, we’re people at the end of the day.”
“There’s more to life than just gymnastics,” she added.

And in true Tracee Ellis Ross fashion, the Black-ish star of course had a celebratory moment for hitting the nail right on the head.
Like mother, like daughter!
