Stacey Abrams wants to be president in the year 2040.

In an interview with ABC News' FiveThirtyEight, former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams expressed her interest in becoming president.

When senior political writer Clare Malone asked if there would ever be a Black and or female president in the next twenty years, Abrams affirmed her question by saying "yes." However, when Malone asked if she would become president in twenty years, Abrams, again, said yes.

"That's my plan," Abrams said. "And I am very pragmatic."

It is uncertain how serious Abrams was during the interview as the interviewer and Abrams found her declaration to be humorous.

Abrams is best known for her bid to become the nation’s first Black woman governor in the 2018 mid-term elections. She lost the election by 1.4 percentage points to her Republican opponent, Brian Kemp, former Georgia secretary of state.

Abrams is also known for refusing to concede the election the night of, accusing Kemp of engaging in voter suppression. Kemp enforced voter ID laws while running against Abrams.

Eventually, Abrams admitted her defeat months after the campaign had concluded in April 2019 —  but has she believes it "was a stolen election."

"In response to what I believe was a stolen election — and I'm not saying they stole it from me, they stole it from the voters of Georgia. I cannot prove empirically that I would've won, but we will never know. And so what I demanded on November 16 was a fair fight because you see voter suppression is as old as America," Abrams said via CNN.

As a reminder, most Democrats believe strict voter ID laws lower voter turnout among Blacks who are less likely to have the necessary identification due to a variety of reasons: the time and money it takes to request a new birth certificate and social security card, or the failure to pay outstanding fines on an existing license.

Abrams has since created an organization to promote fair elections called Fair Fight. Many people in the media consider her defiance of the Georgia voting system as a qualified trait to become either a running mate or the president.

It's good to know she has confirmed plans to run for the latter.
