Former Detroit Lions Stanley Wilson Jr. has died. His death comes after he collapsed at a mental hospital a few weeks ago, as TMZ Sports reports.

Wilson Jr. was placed in police custody last August, after he was arrested for vandalism. According to People, Wilson Jr. was believed to have broken into a home in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood two different times, one of which caused damage to the property.

Prosecutors say that he was found incompetent to stand trial, and early this month he was transferred from the country jail to the Metropolitan State Hospital in Los Angeles County. The hospital specializes in helping those with mental health struggles.

During intake at the facility, law enforcement say he collapsed and died, TMZ reports.

At the moment, authorities do not believe that foul play was involved. Wilson Jr.’s cause of death has yet to be determined.

The son of former Bengals running back Stanley Wilson Sr., Wilson Jr. played two seasons with the Lions, in 2005 and 2006. He walked away from the game the following year.

Throughout his life, Wilson Jr. had several legal issues. Back in 2016, he was charged with attempted burglary after breaking into a woman’s home in Portland. The woman said the 40-year-old was “completely nude” at the time, TMZ reports. A year later, he was arrested twice, once for walking nude around a Portland neighborhood, and then again for breaking and entering.

By the end of his NFL career, he took home 87 tackles, eight pass breakups, and one forced fumble.
