Golden State Warrior fans are holding prayer meetings around the country today as they await the news on Stephen Curry’s MRI. At the height of his career and arguably one of the best players in the game, Stephen Curry may have to sit the next few games out. As if we weren’t clutching our pearls the first time he got injured during game one when he sprang his left ankle, last night he slipped on a wet spot on the court resulting in his right ankle and knee being injured. Although his ankle was reported to be fine last night, his knee wasn’t by the end of the game. Curry was said to have walked out after the game limping where he then joined his friends in a circle or prayer. Despite losing Curry for the second half of the game, the Warriors went on to beat the Rockets 121 to 94. The team will comment on Curry’s probability to play in Game 5 on Wednesday depending on the results of the MRI.
Is this the end of the season for the player who was last year’s league MVP and the same guy who led his team to beating the Chicago Bulls record by getting more than 72 wins? Can the Warriors win a championship without their star player?
One of his teammates thinks it’s possible. Guard Klay Thompson told ABCnews: “He’s a tough competitor, obviously concerning because he’s our best player. It’s extremely difficult without him, he’s in our thoughts. He’ll be back and if we have to finish out without him on Wednesday, we’ll do it. We just have to trust each other.
Prayers are up and fingers are crossed that Stephen Curry can return to the playoffs and help his team win a title they deserve. In the meantime as we await the results of the MRI we should fire the person who failed to clean up the court!
