Stephen Curry is a busy man. Right now, the two-time MVP‘ is doing battle against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. Despite a standout year, Curry’s suffered some ups and downs, which may have led him to opt out of the 2016 Olympics.

Curry has formally announced that he’s withdrawing from Rio.

“After a great deal of internal thought and several discussions with my family, the Warriors and my representatives, I’ve elected to withdraw my name from the list of eligible players on Team USA’s preliminary roster for the 2016 Summer Games in Brazil.”

Curry claims multiple factors, including “recent ankle and knee injuries,” informed his decision.

“My previous experiences with USA Basketball have been incredibly rewarding, educational and enjoyable, which made this an extremely difficult decision for me and my family… It’s an incredible honor to represent your country and wear ‘USA’ on your chest, but my primary basketball-related objective this summer needs to focus on my body and getting ready for the 2016-17 NBA season.”

The USA men’s basketball team is slated to announce its roster later this month. Who knows what the line-up will entail? Curry’s current rival, LeBron James, remains uncommitted even though he previously participated in 2004, 2008 and 2012 games

Good luck to Team USA.
