Stephen Curry, normally known as the humble superstar of the Golden State Warriors, took full advantage of the opportunity to throw shade when he hosted the ESPYs on Wednesday. Curry, who earned his fourth NBA championship in June after defeating the Boston Celtics, had a lot to say about his opponents and a few others.

Performing in a skit for the ESPYs, Curry roasted the Celtics.

“Proud husband of Ayesha Curry, proud son of Dell Curry, proud daddy of… the Boston Celtics,” he said in a clip shared to Twitter.

Curry continued to take shots when he targeted Celtics forward Grant Williams, who was sitting among the crowd at the ESPYs.

“Grant Williams, I see you in the building! It’s great to see you again, my man! I know you like this color, I’ll let you borrow it after I’m done. I might even let you wear a ring,” the host said.

The shots kept coming when Curry turned his attention to LeBron James.

“I’m the second NBA player to host this award show. LeBron James hosted this show back in 2007 after losing the NBA Finals. So yes… yes, this feels better,” he said.

No one was safe from Curry’s jokes, not even the perpetually struggling Sacramento Kings or other sports teams.

Curry’s teammate Draymond Green, who’s not normally short of words, also jumped in on the opportunity to blast his opponents.

I’m live in LA, home of seven professional teams. And the Clippers,” Green said during a skit for the ESPYs.

Curry had some NBA fans on Twitter in their feels, but others just rolled with the punches.

Turning to a more serious issue during the ESPYs, Curry advocated for WNBA superstar Brittney Griner, who remains detained in Russia.

“We cannot stop fighting for her, we cannot stop believing for her and we will not stop hoping for the day when we can welcome her home safely,” he said during the show.

WNBA superstars Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins-Smith also joined Curry to deliver the message.

“It’s been 153 nights now that BG has been wrongfully detained thousands of miles away from home, away from her family, away from her friends, away from her team,” Diggins-Smith said. “All throughout that time, we’ve kept her in our thoughts and in our hearts even though we know that ain’t nearly enough to bring her home, y’all.”
