If you’re like me, you binged Stranger Things with the quickness. The ’80s nostalgia ran extra deep – all the way to the soundtrack. And the show produced another great young blerd hope for all of us OGs to place our faith in for the future. There’s been tons of speculation about what the next installment of the franchise will entail.

But now we have some info for you from the source.

The Duffer Brothers did an interview over at EW and spilled some tea. A lot of fans were under the impression that we’d get a brand spanking new cast for next season, but that was quickly dismissed. Ross Duffer said, “I don’t think we ever thought anthology…I think we talked like a larger time jump where the kids are older now and it’s a different decade. That’s something we batted around from the very beginning. But for us, there’s still more story here, there’s still things that are unresolved.”

If you don’t know what that means, I’ll translate. Season 1 did too good, bruh. Y’all watched the crap out of that thing. Stranger Things even beat Marvel on Netflix. There isn’t any way that anybody will be allowed to mess with this cash cow for seasons to come.

But there still will be some new characters introduced, don’t worry. The other Duffer bro, Matt said, “There’s going to be a lot of new and interesting dynamics that we didn’t see in season 1.”

Most importantly, we got the news that next season will be longer than the first. And that’s good news for all of us that are ready for this fire. However, I definitely get the sense that the Duffer siblings had no expectations for this to go as well as it has. They spent the last part of the interview managing expectations – which is probably a smart move, tbh. “We want to make sure it’s manageable and we want to be able to tell a movie-like story where it’s never treading water,” Matt said.

Regardless, next season, which is slated for some time in 2017, is sounding more lit than ever. And it sounds like we get Lucas back, which was honestly my main concern. If you haven’t watched Stranger Things yet, your days are numbered, my friend. Get your binge on before season 2 next year please. Don’t be that person on the timeline trying to ruin the fun. And don’t @ me either.
