Russell Wilson, the Denver Broncos quarterback who’s losing some fans after a slow start to the season, is also losing his “Dangerwich” sandwich at Subway. According to NBC Sports, the restaurant chain pulled the sandwich from its menu shortly after social media users mocked Wilson’s performance in the “Dangerwich” ad.

Subway introduced the sandwich in February as part of its The Vault menu, which featured sandwiches created by star athletes. The menu included sandwiches by Marshawn Lynch, Tony Romo, Simone Biles, Trevor Lawrence, Tony Hawk and, of course, Russell Wilson’s signature “Dangerwich.”
According to the New York Post, the menu item has been the subject of mockery in recent weeks as people drag Wilson for his performance on and off the field.

A competing sub company needs to hire Geno Smith ASAP to combat the awfulness of the Russell Wilson Subway ads.

No one could really speak to how the sandwich tastes, but they definitely weren’t fans of Russ’ acting.
Everyone is dunking on Russell Wilson, and rightfully so. But Subway and the creative agency that designed and signed off on these ads need to be charged with a crimepic.twitter.com/nPhYWQDTq0

What do I win if I have yet to watch a Russell Wilson Subway commercial this season?

You either die Unliiiimited or you live long enough to see yourself become a Dangerwich.

The widely mocked ad shows Wilson suggesting “Dangeruss” ways to eat the sandwich. At one point in the clip, the quarterback uses a fork and knife to eat the “Dangerwich.” Another part of the ad shows Wilson eating the sandwich blindfolded. The quarterback continues to show a number of other “Dangeruss” ways to eat the sandwich, including upside down and left-handed.
The sandwich featured pepperoni, salami, black forest ham, provolone cheese and bacon on Italian herbs and cheese bread. It was topped with lettuce, green peppers, tomatoes and banana peppers, along with yellow mustard and mayo.
Subway hasn’t confirmed its reason for pulling the item. The company has also canceled the “Sunshine Sub,” which was endorsed by Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Wilson’s Broncos are off to a 2-4 start on the season.
